Apple's first foldable screen will launch in 2025 or 2026

According to Jeff Pu, an analyst at Haitong Securities, mass production of Apple's first foldable devices will begin in 2025 and 2026.

According to an investor memo seen by MacRumors, Pugh said that foldable devices are becoming more apparent in Apple's supply chain and progressing rapidly. The company is expected to launch a large-screen foldable iPad or MacBook first, tapping into the market for that product category, before launching a larger foldable iPhone.

Production of an Apple foldable device with a 20.3-inch display will reportedly begin in late 2025, which is earlier than previously expected. This timeline is reportedly backed up by information from South Korean display makers as well as hinge manufacturers in the US and Taiwan.

Apple's first foldable iPhone will reportedly come with either a 7.9-inch or 8.3-inch display. The company may launch two foldable devices with these two display size options or choose only one display size option. The foldable iPhone could form the next generation of Apple's flagship smartphone lineup. The device is currently scheduled to begin mass production in late 2026, a year later than the 20.3-inch foldable device.

In addition, the U.S. Trademark and Patent Office (USPTO) recently publicized a list of Apple's new patent on the folding screen iPhone, the biggest highlight is the unique hinge design, which can be folded inward and outward in both directions, and it is not certain whether Apple will apply this patent to the first folding disk device.
