The next iPhone 15 series will have improved RAM, according to a new report from Taiwanese research firm TrendForce. According to the report, Apple will increase the RAM capacity and specifications of the iPhone 15 models, which means the speed of the iPhone 15 series may be further enhanced in RAM, but the report did not provide specific details.
Previously, TrendForce said the iPhone 15 Pro model would likely come with 8GB of RAM, compared with 6GB for the iPhone 14 Pro model. The standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will likely keep 6GB of RAM, but it’s possible these models will be upgraded to the faster LPDDR5 RAM, as was the case with last year’s iPhone 14 Pro models.
The added RAM allows more applications to be opened simultaneously in the background, which facilitates multitasking on the iPhone. Along with the A17 bionic chip rumored for iPhone 15 Pro models, the RAM improvements will boost overall performance. If the iPhone 15 Pro is increased to 8GB of RAM, it will be the first increase since the iPhone 12 Pro was released with 6GB of RAM.
Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 15 series at its usual September press event.
