6z IntzMobile Channel, Aug. 24 - Apple today released the first beta of its upcoming iPadOS 16.1 update to developers for testing purposes, which is available alongside the standard iOS 16 version 7 beta available today.
Developers can download iPadOS 16 profiles from the Apple Developer Center, and once installed, the beta will be available wirelessly.
Apple has decided to delay the release of iPadOS 16 in order to continue working on bugs and other issues with the upcoming launch of front-of-house functionality features on the M1 iPad model.

In a statement to TechCrunch, Apple said that there will be no iPadOS 16.0 version at release, but instead plans to release iPadOS 16.1 after the release of iOS 16.
This is a particularly important year for iPadOS. As our own platform with features designed specifically for the iPad, we have the flexibility to deliver iPadOS on our own schedule. iPadOS will be released after iOS this fall as a free software update to version 16.1.

Apple rarely separates iOS and iPadOS releases, but it chose to do so in this case because the latest version of iPadOS is still riddled with bugs and has seen many complaints about the multitasking Stage Manager option.
