Apple self-driving test plans to grow to more than 200 drivers

Apple has 67 cars and 201 drivers registered to test self-driving features on public roads, according to data provided by the California DMV. That’s because California requires companies testing self-driving features to register key details with it, including the number of vehicles and drivers. The size of Apple’s fleet hasn’t changed much since 2021, but the number of authorized drivers has slowly increased.

Since January 2023, Apple has increased its authorized drivers from 196 to 201, while the number of vehicles has remained steady at 67, according to macReports.

In addition to Apple, the report included data from other manufacturers and their testing agencies. There is also a list of driverless testers, but Apple is not one of them.

Overall, Apple’s progress in autonomous driving continues, and the increasing number of authorized drivers demonstrates Apple’s investment and confidence in the technology. However, it’s unclear when Apple will launch a self-driving car, but we can look forward to future developments.
