When will Apple release iOS 17?

Apple is expected to announce iOS 17 at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June. The meeting is usually held in the first week of June, and this year’s forecast is around June 5. Apple will release the beta update to developers as soon as it releases iOS 17, with a public beta released sometime in July, and then iOS 17 to everyone sometime in September, possibly alongside the new iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro lineup.

iOS 17

While few inside Apple know what the company’s plans are, iOS 17 as a whole reportedly appears to be a relatively modest update. Bloomberg reports that iOS 17(and Apple’s other software platforms) is taking a back seat as the company focuses on AR/VR headsets. The headset, which is also likely to be unveiled at WWDC, marks Apple’s first major new hardware and software platform since the Apple Watch. Apple is mobilizing hardware and software engineering resources from across the company to focus on headphone development.

Codenamed “Dawn,” iOS 17 is in continuous development and testing within Apple ahead of WWDC. Bloomberg said the update is “likely to be less of a major change than originally planned” as the focus is on the Reality Pro headset “as well as iOS 16 hurdles.” It is not yet clear what new features and changes iOS 17 will bring.
